This has become a rather meticulous and precise process that has undergone many changes over the years and will undoubtedly go through more changes as we increase our own personal potential to change technology and the way in which it works.

It’s often been blogged that having keywords in titles is of paramount importance to your search engine ranking. As true as this maybe – people also forget that their content needs to actually be appealing and start to bring in traffic that is interested in what you have to say.

    Search Engine Optimization Gone Sour

    Search

Speaking from experience, Search Engine Optimization can go sour very quickly. When I realized just how important it is to the survival of not just my business but my very being, I quickly began to set a direction for the process and have come up with a few Web Task Sheets. I call them that because they give me a complete understanding of what I need to keep doing in order to keep ranking well. I am not talking about ranking number one on Google but rather about ranking well enough to get my companies and ideas out into the world.

It takes time and concentration and is a rather demanding job which only becomes encouraging when there are real results to look at.

“After reading this article, I couldn’t think of a better way to explain SEO”

The fact is every search engine has a different formula to accord ranking for a Web page. Keyword-rich copy that the search engines favor may not ideally form the text -especially not on the front page! Using flash animation and of graphics may make the site appealing, but as the search engines can not index these well, one has to inevitably use gateway pages.

Some business owners may argue that their sites need to be one up on the others and would want liberal use of flash animation and lots of graphics, They may be somewhat disinclined to change this attitude just to satisfy the search engines.

  • Coding Standards for SEO

Every website is coded using a certain language and techniques to generate the wanted effect on the design of the site. The code of the website is what the search engines see when crawling your website rather than viewing the front end design that we see as users. It is essential that this code is build to meet coding standards to make it as easy as possible for search engines to crawl.

If there are errors within the code then search engines will have to skip that part of the code as they will be unable to read it. This can seriously effect the SEO results for your website as search engines like Google need to be able to read the whole thing in order to rank your site effectively in their database. If there are errors they may miss essential parts of your content that would improve ranking results.

This is a quick post just to point some thoughts on why I think that businesses large, medium and small should start taking Social Media Marketing very seriously.

If you are one of those hundreds of thousands of companies that are suffering daily to make a simple sale on something that you know has value, is priced right and is something that a customer/consumer can and will use then you need to ask yourself why you haven’t yet taken into consideration the power of social media marketing.

At the heart of successful SEO is determining what keyword or keywords to use when optimizing a website. The prevalence of a specific word or phrase on a webpage is critical to influencing SERP (Search Engine Result pages) ranking. In most cases websites should be optimized for multiple keywords, and a simple way to do this is to optimize different sections or pages with different keywords.

Of course, there are exceptions to this approach.Below are some basic questions to ask when considering keywords to focus on. Once a keyword(s) is selected it should serve as the focus of a site’s SEO efforts.

  • Google's common sense killed the SEO guru... We were stumped

For the past few years, everyone has been wondering why their Google rankings have collapsed, because as far as they knew they were some of the best at optimizing web pages (and that was often times correct).

I know for a fact what has happened and why it is so much harder to succeed on Google now days, and I can almost guarantee some of the things that were said at Google. I bet several executives and employees of Google said “How can we make sure that all the web sites appearing in our results are valuable resources?”. Which makes complete sense because without valuable results in their search engines; they lose their stance as the best search engine on the internet. I also bet someone came up with a simple, yet, extremely bright idea and said something like this “Why don’t we just change the algorithm so that it takes true hard work; or true popularity for people to get to the top of our search engine?”, or something of that nature.

One of the biggest obstacles that search marketing professionals face today is guarantees about end results with SEO, according to a poll we conducted a few months ago (Top 3 Reasons that Stop Businesses from Going Forward with SEO, Capture Commerce, 2009).

To date, the one-question poll shows these as the top 3 of 16 choices:
§    It’s difficult to make guarantees about end results – 11%
§    They are uninformed and/or misinformed about the process – 11%
§    They don’t realize how much money it costs – 11%

  • Why More Traffic Just Isn't Good Enough Anymore

With more complex algorithms that factor in local, personal and universal search features, search rankings are not always consistent. Today’s results often depend on a user’s location, their search history and their behavior with the search results – sometimes you can see different search results for the same search terms, even on two different computers in the same location. One question many businesses have when hunting for a search engine optimization (SEO) company is, “Will this company know us and our audience well enough to turn our web business into something profitable, worthy of our investment?” Unfortunately, it’s not easy to discern the answer before you are three months into an agreement.

Search Engine Optimization | Link Building | Traffic Generation

    Web Traffic vs. Engagement
Is the goal of SEO to get as much traffic as possible to a website? Many SEO companies will lead you to believe that more traffic is all there is to it. Granted, getting more traffic is a part of it, but more eyeballs on a web page do not necessarily mean achieving your business goals.

Look at your web analytics – specifically the keywords that brought in the majority of traffic – then evaluate the quality of this traffic over the past month or quarter. A high bounce rate and low average time on site for visits from a particular keyword can indicate one or all of these:

    • Searcher cannot find anything relevant to her keyword and bounces.
    • Searcher may find something relevant, but the page does not communicate directly with her intent… so she bounces.
    • The keyword is not relevant for the site.

Tags: consultancy, consultants, , , search engine optimization,

Is your business opting to handle the search engine optimization of websites by itself with the in-house staff as opposed to enlisting the services of a search engine optimizer to manage the task?

If this is so, then you will still require search engine optimization consultancy to ensure the success of search engine optimization. Search engine optimization (SEO) consultants do exactly what their title suggests, consult. A consultant will not take on the responsibility of optimizing your site for detection by search engine – but will rather assist you through the process of search engine optimization.
